Madakaripura waterfall

After departing from the foggy Mount Bromo and descending into the Probolinggo Regency, visitors will come upon a breathtaking attraction nestled within the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park: the mesmerizing Madakaripura Waterfall. The towering waterfall in East Java is believed to be the last meditation place of Gajah Mada, the military Commander-in-Chief of the great Javanese kingdom of Majapahit. It is affectionately called the eternal waterfall because its waters continuously pour down blessings on those fortunate enough to walk beneath it.

Situated in the Lombang district, near the town of Sapih and near Mount Bromo, Madakaripura Waterfall may be reached by a three-hour journey from Surabaya, the capital of East Java. The magnificent waterfall is concealed at the terminus of a profound ravine in the foothills of the Tengger mountain range. To reach this destination, travelers are required to hike for approximately 20 minutes, across rivers and a rugged trail, while being surrounded by stunning landscapes, until they arrive at the entrance. A statue of Gajah Mada, the esteemed Commander of Majapahit, is situated in a seated attitude of profound concentration, welcoming tourists as they proceed on foot.

The waterfall's appearance evokes a sense of awe-inspiring natural beauty. As the volume of water increases, a captivating display of water curtains envelops the pathway, providing visual delight and rejuvenation for both the body and spirit. In this place, nature generously bestows its boundless and invigorating blessings, resulting in the unavoidable experience of becoming soaked. Although it is advisable to come prepared with raincoats or umbrellas, there are stalls located along the walking path that provide umbrella rentals and plastic bags for safeguarding essential items, such as cameras.
