Tumpak sewu waterfall
Description:
Tumpak Sewu, often referred to as Coban Sewu, is a cascading waterfall situated near the border of the Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, and the Ampelgading District, Malang Regency, in East Java, Indonesia.
Semeru, the tallest peak in Java, casts a shadow over the waterfall as it continues to erupt. The Glidik River, originating from Semeru, serves as the main water supply for the waterfall. Tumpak Sewu is roughly equivalent to "a multitude of waterfalls" in the Javanese language. The name apparently derived from the visual impression of numerous distinct waterfalls concentrated within a singular, semi-circular region.
Tumpak Sewu is a popular tourist attraction, particularly on weekends. The construction of infrastructure in and around the primary Box Canyon has facilitated improved accessibility to the region. However, traversing the canyon to enter or exit remains physically strenuous and typically requires approximately one hour to complete.
